Becoming a National Mobility Equipment Dealer Association (NMEDA) mobility dealer also means adhering to the Quality Assurance Program (QAP), which is founded on the principle that in order to satisfy customers, there must be a consistent, dedicated approach to quality and safety.
If you’re a mobility dealership that’s considering applying to be a NMEDA member, here are a few key tips to consider.
Assess Your Current Capabilities
Being a QAP accredited dealer means being able to provide handicap accessible vehicle owners with the highest level of quality service, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Make sure you have the proper employee bandwidth to be able to respond to emergency calls in a prompt and professional manner, and be able to advise customers on the proper corrective procedures until your team can arrive.
Build Your Network
It’s understood that there may be times when your team can’t respond in a timely fashion, due to unforeseen circumstances. Because of this, it helps to build and maintain a trusted network of other NMEDA mobility dealers in your area who you can subcontract to help assist customers in a pinch.
Know Your Type
Currently, there are four different types of dealer categories through NMEDA. Ranging from installation and service to advanced, high-tech procedural certifications, there’s a category to match the current capabilities of your facility. Remember though, that as your capabilities increase, so can the category in which you’re eligible to apply.
