Adaptive Adventures: Try Something New!
Adaptive Adventures: Try Something New!
With a mission to improve the quality of life of those they serve, Adaptive Adventures seeks to provide their community with the opportunity to participate in sporting activities regardless of disabilities. For the past 12 years, the non-profit organization has encouraged people living with disabilities to participate in sports like kayaking, alpine skiing, cycling and white water rafting, amongst others, leaving less room to say “I can’t.” Adaptive Adventures’ trainers and volunteers have helped countless kids, teens, adults and veterans realize their potential by inspiring them to participate in challenging yet highly rewarding activities. What separates this organization from other non-profits is their commitment to advancing their members and encouraging them to challenge themselves with each task they take on. With members even aspiring to compete in Paralympic events, the programs offered by this organization are truly life changing.
PROGRAMS
Alpine Skiing
Adaptive skiing allows people with physical disabilities or visual impairments to experience the freedom of sweeping down a snowy mountain. With equipment like mono skis and sit-down boards, anyone can enjoy the thrills of a mountainside adventure
Kayaking
Summer months are perfect for taking a relaxing journey on a kayak and Adaptive Adventures makes that possible for anyone, regardless of disabilities. Due to the nature of this sport, there are several ways to participate, some of which do not even require adaptive equipment. With multi-day adventure trips taking place throughout the warmer months, kayaking may just be the thrill you’ve been seeking.
Cycling
Cycling is a great way to enjoy the great outdoors even if you live in a busy city. Handcycles, adaptive bicycles and Adaptive Adventures have made it possible for nearly anybody to experience the highly celebrated thrill of riding a bike.
These are just a few of the thrilling programs available through Adaptive Adventures. Be sure to check out their website for more information on future events and trips as well as details on how to get involved!
