Last Stop on the 2021 Automotive Mobility Awareness Tour
The 2021 Automotive Mobility Awareness Tour wrapped up last week with Director of Government Relations, Amy Schoppman, joining our tour partner United Spinal Association at MedStar National Rehab Hospital in Washington, DC.
Thirty healthcare professionals and several patients and caregivers joined us for an on-site showcase of accessible vehicles and assistive driving technology.
“Thank you all for such an informative presentation,” said Joan Joyce, Director of Therapeutic Recreation and Community Outreach, MedStar National Rehabilitation Network. “So many staff members are talking about how great the in-service was, and I know the recreation therapists on the SCI unit are already planning to offer a monthly educational seminar on adaptive driving, or more often when they have appropriate patients!”
Special thanks to MobilityWorks of Alexandria, VA for providing display vehicles for the in-person demonstration and helping us showcase how hospital staff and administrators can improve patients’ lives by understanding and supporting automotive independence and accessible transportation solutions.
If you are interested in participating in next year’s Tour, contact Trevor Jennings at Trevor.Jennings@nmeda.org for information on how you can get involved in 2022.
