Choose Mobility Equipment through a NMEDA Dealer
Mobility equipment has improved the lives of many people. It has helped many people with physical disabilities to become mobile again. This equipment can range anywhere between something as simple as a cane, a wheelchair to equipment installed on a vehicle such as a lift or hand controls. It will depend on the person with disabilities as to what type of equipment that they will require to help them to become mobile.
When looking to purchase mobility equipment, check with your local NMEDA dealers. These dealers have had special training with handicapped equipment.
When looking for a new wheelchair, there is a lot of research to read. What type of wheelchair will work best for you? Will you be indoors or outdoors? Will you want an electric chair or one to be pushed?
NMEDA is an organization that helped to bring handicap safety standards to a new height in the public eye. NMEDA stands for National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association. Our group was originally formed locally in Florida and then went to a national level in 1989. We now have over 600 members mainly from Canada and the United States. Our members are trained and required to follow the safety guidelines in the manufacturing, selling and servicing of handicap equipment. They are also required to follow the guidelines and safety standards set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and QAP.
QAP stands for Quality Assurance Program and is the only one of its kind for the mobility equipment industry. It is a well-known accreditation program for the mobility equipment industry. The program was developed to promote reliability, safety and quality within the industry. QAP sets the highest standards for vehicle modifications and the mobility equipment industry.
