Everything You Need for Everyday Life is at the Abilities Expo
People with disabilities need specialized products and services for every aspect of life, but you can’t just go to the nearest mall and find everything. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see it all in one place? Well, you can. Abilities Expo caters to those with disabilities, seniors, families, caregivers, healthcare professionals and therapists at yearly exhibitions around the country.
Exhibits feature cutting-edge technologies, products and services from top-notch exhibitors for cars, vans, conversions and accessories as well as accessible home modification, clothing, and more. You can look around and see everything at the expo or visit the website beforehand to see a list of participating exhibitors and plan your day(s).
With onsite discounts, many offerings are discounted exclusively for Abilities Expo attendees.
Free workshops abound. For example, a workshop on purchasing adaptive equipment or advising someone in the process will cover such topics as what solutions are available and where to find them, key terminology, the shopping and evaluation process, funding options and more. (Sponsored by the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association – NMEDA.)
The Assistive Technology Pavilion will feature the latest AT products for people of all ages with wide ranges of physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities.
Watch adaptive sports like power soccer or test your skill in a wheelchair obstacle course.
Past years have featured fashion shows, adaptive sports, gardening demos, all types of dance, yoga and assistance dog demos. This year even offers a career fair.
Not just for grown-ups, Abilities Expo is fun for kids with products and services created with children in mind, kid-focused activities, sports, crafts, games and more.
