NMEDA Certified Technician (NCT)
The NCT course catalog consists of five individual modules that when successfully completed in their entirety, establishes the NCT certification for an individual. QAP rules require that every dealer location must have at least one current NCT on staff.
These training courses are offered individually or are included as part of the NCT (NMEDA Certified Technician) course catalog.
- Electrical Training I – This course offers a primer on electrical applications that is generic to the industry.
- Electrical Training II – This advanced training course reviews electrical concepts and covers modern electrical components.
This course is offered individually or included as part of the NCT (NMEDA Certified Technician) course catalog. This comprehensive course includes information on QAP, the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the auto mobility industry.
In-Person
Get the most bang for your buck with this multi-day, in-person offering. A convenient and cost-effective way to get certified by multiple manufacturers in one trip, NMEDA’s MSS always features several of the best mobility equipment manufacturers in the business. Each session includes in depth, hands-on training as well as practical applications discussed and modeled in a real-life setting.
NMEDA Certified Technician Program (NCT)
The NMEDA Certified Technician Program is intended to standardize technical competency for the automotive mobility industry.
Cost: $125 – Members Only
The modules in this program cover the basic levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for an automotive technician to perform optimally as a Service Department Technician. NMEDA technician certification is a means by which an individual can prove their abilities to themselves, to their employer, and to their customers. Technicians who successfully complete this course will earn a highly regarded credential in our industry.
NCT Course & Exam – See below for modules, descriptions, and estimated completion times
- Electrical Training (Part I & II): Basic (Part I) & Advanced (Part II) electrical concepts (3.0 hours)
- The Quality Assurance Program: Introduction to QAP, QAP Rules, QAP Guidelines (2.5 hours)
- Make Inoperative: How to comply/when to apply Make Inoperative Exemptions (0.15 hour)
- Fasteners: How to prevent fastener failure/selecting the right fastener (0.20 hour)
- Shop Safety: Essentials for safe shop environment (0.25 hour)
- NMEDA NCT Certification Test: 50 question exam covering all five NCT modules (0.5 hour)
Each Quality Assurance Program (QAP) accredited location is required to maintain at least one NCT on staff at all times. Recertification is required every two years.
NMEDA Manufacturer Service School (MSS)
A multi-day, in-person training event held at locations across the US and Canada, exclusively for QAP-accredited dealer locations.
Looking ahead starts with planning ahead. The next round of Service Schools is on the horizon, with sessions scheduled in both Indiana and Texas. This is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience, connect with manufacturer trainers and industry partners, and sharpen your technical expertise. Now is the time to secure your spot.

Bonus: Attendees will gain valuable insights from a Mobility Service Technician session that strengthens consistent service standards and mobility service efficiency through real-world examples. Technicians learn to streamline workflow, standardize inspections, and organize tools to increase billable time and shop value. Cancellation Policy
The provider (NMEDA) reserves the right to cancel the course due to unforeseen/unavoidable circumstances at any time. Any registration fees will be refunded in full. However, NMEDA will not be responsible for non-refundable airline or hotel reservations that a participant may incur due to cancellation of the course. NMEDA reserves the right to change a course date, location, or instructor.
With this in mind, we recommend that you include a cancellation clause when booking your flight or hotel reservations.
Quality Assurance Program
The NMEDA QAP Training provides a detailed overview of NMEDA’s Quality Assurance Program.
Cost: FREE
Because QAP participation is required for all NMEDA Dealer members, it makes good business sense to have staff trained in QAP and the NMEDA Guidelines at every location. Having proven QAP experts on staff makes it possible for you to maintain an advantage on your competition, reduce potential liabilities, and provide “best in class” service to your customers. Participants in this training will gain an introduction to best practice safety guidelines and operational procedures for the automotive mobility equipment industry as regulated by the NMEDA Quality Assurance Program. This course is also useful for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists who collaborate and work closely with NMEDA QAP Dealers.
Electrical Training
Electrical Training I
Cost: $70 for members | $140 for non-members
Electrical Training I (ET I) is generic to the industry. You must score 80% or higher to pass and receive a 2-year certificate. You can retake the tests as many times as needed. The course takes about 2.5-3 hours to complete and can be taken anytime. The certificate is accepted by both BraunAbility and Vantage Mobility to satisfy pre-hands-on training requirements for that trainee and is valid for 2 years.
The course is a component of the NCT (NMEDA Certified Technician) program. However, it is available for purchase here as an individual course as well.

Electrical Training II (ET II) offers an advanced training covering modern electrical components. The course is a component of the NCT (NMEDA Certified Technician) program. However, it is available for purchase here as an individual course as well.
